can you add loads of plants to a tank at once or is it best to add 1 or 2 at a time.

I added a vallis and a amazon sword on monday and am going to the fish shop on saturday and was thinking of buying another valis and amazon swod. will this be ok adding 2 more plants a week after the first lot went in

cheer

(prob a stupid question) :*) )

yeah chuck a load in and some will live, some will die. after a couple of weeks buy more of the ones that lived.

there is no danger of putting too many plants in at once, apart from the damage to your wallet.

one tip though, do your research first, a lot of plants sold in the LFS are non aquatic and will die no matter how good the tank conditions. a good guide is most aquatic plants go limp and floppy when out of water. if a plant has a rigid stem it's probably non aquatic.

thanks for the reply

i am going to be sticking to Amazon sword and vallis as i love the look of the plants. each plant at my lfs cost £2.49 for tropical or £1.89 for coldwater i dont know if that is a good price or what as i have only started plant keeping in my tanks

If you are planning to buy a few bunches of plants then buy them online at someone like Greenline Aquatics. It works out a lot cheaper.

if i ordered with greenline, the plants would be delivered in the morning with the post but not opening / stuck in the tank untill 6 pm as no one is home

would this be a problem

Thanks for your help guys
