While not planning to add fish for 2-3 weeks yet while going through a fishless cycle is it safe (even good) to start adding plants?

I want to get them and the wood/stones setup correctly prior to buying fish. Do I need to wait or ok to go ahead.

Thanks

just added the word "weeks" incase you thought I meant days, months or even years.......

yes but not too many

plants use up ammonia and will therefore slow down the cycle if you add too many. however by too many i mean like properly planted tanks with plants covering 90% of the substrate.

so yeah feel free to put some in, but don't go mad! :good:

Thanks for the prompt reply, Miss Wiggle. I am quite relieved that the plants won't suffer, and also that I haven't added too many.

I found a link that pretty much says what Miss Wiggle just said.

http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/aqua/art_plant_newtank.htm

There seems to be a lot of information in it so might be worth reading.
It looks an interesting site. But after a quick read, he is talking about setting up a tank using a "heavy planted" tank, rather than doing the fishless cycle talked about here.

Anyone else know of this idea and agree/disagree?
