Youwould think by now I would know this, but I'm going to aska any way. It's been a while since I added a good number of fish.

Ok. So I added 7 adult barbs to my tank on the 18th, and I want to get some more fish. I just don't know the appropriate amount of time I should wait to add the new fish. I don't want the bio-load to get to heavy all at once. The tank is heavily planted if that makes any difference.

Thanks

How are your water parameters running? If your ammonia and nitrite are both staying at 0 then you shuld be fine to add a few more. If you're still seeing ammonia and nitrite then wait till you go a full week without any before adding. This is all provided you aren't already fully stocked of course.

Well all I do when adding more fish if say I added 8 black widow tetras to my 55g today I would wait 1 week before I added 8 more or something like that.

My levels were fine when I tested a few days ago... ammonia 0, nitrites near perfect, but I will double check before I made the decision to add any more.

I have room in the tank for a good number of fish still...
90 gal-

8 adult barbs at 2 inches
7 or 8 platties, half still babies
2 zebra danios
4 black neon tetras
3 otos
3 SAE at 1.5" each
3 gold ancistrus at 1.5" each

I will most likely be selling the platties and danios at some point. I am somewhat tired of keeping them... I have had those kind of fish since I first started and want to try different kinds of fish. I want to get a bunch of angels and maybe some rams.

Well if you got angels you'd have to get rid of the platties, danios, tetras, and maybe the ottos and SAE because once the angels get bigger they will be able to eat all those fish.

I have heard that the black neons should be ok since they are a bigger than the normal neons, but well have to see.

Just to reinforce the subject post, you should be fine to add more fish after waiting a week since you last added new stock. Just remember to keep track of ammonia and nitrite levels, if they are fine, you can keep adding fish. :)
