At the moment I have 2 large Angelfish in my 30 gal. I'm not sure if they are male and female, but the get along really well. I was wondering if I could add another pair of Angels. The ones that I'd like to get are the size of a nickel. Do you think my larger Angels would get along with them? Are they territorial? I love the personalities of these fish and I'd love to add some more.

Thank

30 gallon kind of small for angels. A 29 would actually be better because of the height. Angels require a taller tank. I'd stick with the two.

The angels may bother the smaller ones and may not. This is a gamble with all fish to some point. I had four angels toghether in a 55 gallon all getting along fine for a long time. At one point the other three decided they did not like one and started beating on him non-stop. I had to seperate the one into another tank. The three still get along great. and the other doing well on his own.

I would also just stick with the 2. Angels can be very territorial. I have one small angel in my 46g. I tried to add another angel of the same size and the one I already had picked on it so mercilessly I had to get 3 more to distribute the aggression. Adding more angels, of a smaller size sounds like trouble to me.

The general rule for angels, territory wise, is that you should allow 10g per angel. They should also be in a tank that's 18" tall.

Thanks for the advise. I'm going to stick with the two that I have. They get along real well and I wouldn't want to ruin it. My 30 gal is 18" tall, so it should be good.
