Hello,

I've recently decided to update my neglected tropical tank and have purchased some plants and new fish to brighten things up a bit. I've been using weekly and daily liquid fertiliser as well as fertiliser tablets to try and keep the plants healthy, but only after planting the plants did I think about the substrate and possible advantages of mixing in some nutrients beforehand. I was wondering if there's anything I could add to the gravel now to help the plants along a bit as some of them are developing yellowy/brown tinges to some of the leaves. Most of the substrate mixtures I've been looking at seem to be only for tanks that haven't been set up yet and need to be mixed in under the gravel. All advice much appreciated.

Welcome :)

You can buy root tabs or sticks that you push next to the base of the plants. Yellow leaves sound like a nitrogen deffieicency (add a source of nitrate).

What fert are you using?
what plants have oyu got?

Thanks
