I have a rio 125l that is heavily planted and i dose with fertilsier as well as add co2 via a home made mixture nutrafin kit.

Im looking to add some dwarf cichlids to my tank as the 2 bolvian rams i had in there both died with 2 weeks of each, with the last victim dying 2 days ago, both bodies were healthy with no sign of disease or inflamation/cuts etc, they just slowly withdraw from the front of the tank and prefered hiding behind plants. Do you think there is too much aggression in the tank, or perhaps they died of old age/lack of eating etc....?

I have 2 angel fish, 16 harlequins, 1BN, 1 SAE?

Im looking to either add 2/3 dwarf cichlids either more rams or maybe Kribs

or

I was thinking of adding a few more angel fish to increase the shoal to approx 4/5

any help is greatly appreciated

cheers

hi, anyone have any ideas about how many i could add? and also why the other two who were very lively and at the front of my tank slowly withdrew themselves and eventually died? i fear it may have been the SAE?

also do angels prefer being in a large shoal?

Angels do better in pairs but can be bullies, how big is the SAE? if it is large and flies up and down the tank it could have stressed your other fish. Kribs are a hardy fish, a proven pair would do well. If you add more angela and they pair up you have to get rid of the rest as they will bully each other to death.

thanks, only have 2 angels, they are very social and dont really chase my harlequins as they are in a large shoal, they dont bully each other either, so dont want to upset that balance by adding more,

my sae is not that large, perhaps 3 inches long? he doesnt seem to be agressive but just quite terratorial?

if i get kribs i know they can be quite terratorial will this cause problems? i do have plenty of caves and hiding spots?

i also like the look of cockatoo or argazzi dwarfs...
