I want to add a rock to my aquarium but I was wondering how to test it to make sure it won't affect my parameters.

I pour malt vinegar over any rocks I want to put in my tank. If they 'fizz' then don't use them. Thoroughly wash the rock afterwards though

Also don't forget about displacement...... you don't want water everywhere

Its a small piece of petrified wood. Its a piece about 3" thick X 4" wide X 7" long.
