Hey, I've soaked wood for a few days - in the past. Before adding the wood to the tank.

I was wondering, would it make any difference if I add a carbon filter to the bucket with the wood?

Obviously, I want to prevent tanins being released in the tank again.

Just wondering if this would help or maybe speed up the process...

I doubt if it will speed up the process tbh.

But have not tried that method though, so cannot be 100% certain.

I usually put the wood in the tank once water logged, I do not mind the tannins or stained look at all, in fact I like it.
It also has natural  benefits for the tank stocking too, then tannins will eventually disappear.

I don't think a carbon filter would help either. That would remove the tannins from your soaking water, but it won't make the wood release less.

The best thing you can do to encourage the wood to release tannins is to soak it in repeated changes of very hot water (but don't boil the wood!).
