I've just added an external filtration unit to my 90g. It is a juwel 400l with internal filter which wasn't dealing with the waste. The new unit has a spray bar which oxygenates the water beautifully (my O2 is 8+) but the water is constantly full of bubbles now. Reading up on frontosas, they like still water, with hardly any movement. Should I move the bubble bar under the water line so it isn't moving so much?

Hiya, i have the same tank and have also just added a external filter with spray bar.
No i have Fronts, and you dont want bubbles in the water because it can give them float. :grr:
I took the spray bar off mine and keep the end of the tube just below the top of the water slightly breaking it, i also bought the upgraded power head for the tank juwel 1500, i have this aimed at the top of the water and it breaks the surface great!
When you say it wasnt getting rid of the waste properly, are you talking about white particles floating round in the tank?
I have this, my new filter doesnt seem to get rid of it either, i think its particles of food?
I saw this product in a garden centre today which you add to the tank to remove small particles of waste etc, but wasnt sure whether or not to try it?
Hope this helps?

Hello, glolite.

I have never owned cichlids, but I know that bettas have the same problem with the current in filters. I do not know how your filter works, but if it is anything like the one I use in my divided betta tank, I can give you a link that helped me a ton.

http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=84710 I will say these work great! Any questions please ask!

Thanks guys, I'll try the spray bar off. It wasn't white particles that the internal filter wasn't getting rid of so much as general water murkiness. Looks much better now.
