added a little color to the yellow acarra tank... I may move the silver dollar, and add a couple more yellow acarra, since they seem to be in season

this, may cause the fish to color up a little more, and will act as a line of sight break or boundary when adding new fish... it's an artificial plant, so the dollar doesn't eat it before it moves into another tank... acarra hiding behind the plant in this picture

silver dollar taking advantage of the line of sight break... 3 fish currently in this tank, and all visible in this picture...

I assume that te silver dollar will go to a bigger tank if I look at its size...?

it was added to this tank ( a 30 gallon long ) as a companion / dither fish, for the acarra... salvaged from the bichir tank... I've gotta a 45 gallon tall, that I'm putting together a group of assorted silver dollars, to quarantine, and grow out, that will move to my 250 gallon, once it's set up, and mature enough for fish...

well, the dollar is moved, and 2 yellow acara are coming this next week... we'll see... do you think clear tank dividers should be installed 1st, or available if world war 3 breaks out... I would like to keep my previously egg laying female, so I'm hoping for a male, but I can't order 5 at a time... so slow and steady...

Since you are getting only 2, I'd divide the quarantine tank into two, then after quarantine I'd divide the tank already housing the female into three. You could switch out which of the new ones is closest to the female in order to compare reactions and see what you have. Alternstively, divide the female's tank into two and just move one of the two new ones at a time to compare reactions. If you wind up with a pair, rehouse the odd-fish-out.

well, only 2 fish on this tank, and Dan's claims to quarantine for a month before shipping, so the 3 new yellows went right into this tank, while I wax watching for a bit... my current female looked puzzled , like what, are these baby's from my eggs... she is very curious, but not aggressive, at least yet.. both new fish are 1/2 the size of my previous female... one of the new fish has a full black line nose to tail, while the existing female has a main dot in the center, and maybe a broken line, as does the other new fish... so with any luck, maybe the one with a full line, will turn out to
be a male???

this is all 3

this is a close up of the one with the full line...

thank goodness for hardware, after the initial curiosity wore off, big momma is keeping the kids trapped behind the heater, hang on tank lower, and sponge filter... dividers were to be here yesterday, as well as the fish... fish arrived in the morning, blizzard hit later after noon, and Amazon usually delivers later in the day, and those got delayed hopefully things don't turn ugly, before they arrive...

dividers just showed up, the new fish aren't too traumatized, they swam out right away, no fins nipped, so big momma hasn't been too hard on them yet...

well, big momma is mad, the little ones were hanging around center tank, and she tried to intimidate them from the other side of the divider, but they didn't even flinch... I got a pack of 8 tank dividers, just in case breeding starts happening here, and a pair needs separation or if fry need a safe haven...
