Come on people :) we all know about ADA and their pricing system. They are that price for two reasons, firstly because undoubtedly they are some of the best ones around and are sharp and great for the job and secondly cos they are ADA. Should you pay more for a label? Who here has spent money on Nike trainers?

You've got to wonder how much these things actually cost to make. If you can get decent scissors in christmas crackers, then I'd guess the ADA Scissors must cost less than £5 to manafacture.

Swines

I suppose to a certain extent, by making things like this that are ridiculously overpriced, they improve their status as an exclusive, high quality, elite brand.

It actually costs less then 5cents to produce and record a CD. Dont we pay around £15 for these?

And why do we pay 100s for a Armani or Gucci when you can get the unbranded variety for a couple of pounds. I used to work with a Thai company which manufactures garments for the big boys. So it was just a matter of putting the label that made it a top brand or a cheapo. The quality is the same.

Well for what it's worth, when I worked as a veterinary nurse, the scissors (which looked pretty "normal" to me) were insanely eye watering expensive. So guess it's the same kind of quality :dunno:

It certainly does fan the flames of the old ADA is too expensive arguement, my sister is a hairdresser and her scissors were about 100 quid if I recall correctly. A lot of the ADA tools look like they come out of an operating theatre to be honest, quite scary. The japanese do take things like this very seriously though.

That is about the price of some of the most normal looking "desk office type plain" scissors. The finer the cut and the smaller the actual cutting part, the (much more) expensive they were.
