OK, as you know i have been buying a few ADA products and was raving not so long since about my diffuser.
Now let me make a clear statement before i begin. Yes, these items do cost a lot of money, but i am certainly not ashamed of saying my honest opinion rather than posting just to justify the price to myself. Yet again i can honestly say AWESUM!! Absolutely fantastic!
Well worth the £80-90
My first thought was the water movement around the tank. The shape allows the water to circulate much much better than any other standard outlet or internal YET with minimum "turbulent" disturbance.
I had a powerhead 400 jewel internal in my rekord 70 and it gave good circulation but boy did it blow everything about. This is smooth as hell, yet you can see the water in all areas of the tank being disturbed (also tell via my CO2 mist for those of you who that makes sense)
OK so so far so good. I have justified the price. BUT here comes the clincher for me.
Us CO2 injection chaps like minimum disturbance on the water surface so that we don`t cause the CO2 to escape. How many of you end up with stagnant water, oily skin, dirty top layer....basically the top water gets very stagnant with us TRYING to keep it still. Now the way the lily pipe works is that the water rushes out of the "lily" shape glass along its surface. This in turn causes a downward current in the surrounding water and this sucks normal tank water into the center of the bulb which also gets displaced. (HAHA, i`ve just wrote that and i`m not surprised if thats not why you get such good circulation, since the lily pipe shape not only throws out the water its filtered but also surrounding tank water..anyway...) If you place it near the top of the tank, i.e lift the lily pipe up a little, you can place it so that this surface water is just gently sucked into the stream and thus in a fine fine delicate way, the top tank water is also disturbed.......lol, it is so hard to explain. I`m sure you could only make complete sense if you see one in action!!
Basically, i think that’s my understanding.
Blue indicates filtered water
Red indicates surrounding tank water that it actually sucks in to the bulb of the lily pipe.
In essence it seems to be circulating more water than is being filtered, since it is also circulating additional tank water.
Anyway, i`ll stop banging on about it. Final words of wisdom. Buy one!!!
