Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and new to aquatic plants.

After a few false starts with plants that weren't really aquatic I've now got java fern, Vallisneria, a small anubias and Indian Fern (ceratopteris thalictroides) I think. It was sold to me as Wisteria, but in the book I've got it looks much more like the Indian Fern and has already gotten very tall. They are just in gravel, nothing special in the substrate.

Anyway, I read on another post that a fertiliser was melting someone's Vallis.

My Vallis isn't doing all that well (but it's only been in a week). Lots of leaves are turing yellow and dropping and a few do look a bit melted.

I wondered if my fertiliser might not be good for it?

I've got ADA Green Brighty Step 1 (I went to buy Seachem Flourish, but the lady in the shop talked me into this one) I've got no idea what's in it as it's mostly in Japanese.

Has anyone had any experience with ADA Green Brighty Step 1??

Do you think my Vallis might just be settling in?

thanks for your help!

cheers

TC

Probably settling in, step 1 is just trace elements, and I would go for the flourish, ADA is expensive!
ADA works on providing different nutrients in different steps, building them up until you can fully dose when the tank has matured. It is supposed to help minimize algae by providing the plants with only what they will use in their various stages of developement.
Personally, I would just dose full range of nutrients from day 1, as IMO there is no point limiting the plants of macro nutrients.

Thanks, Aaron

Thanks for your advice, yeah, the ADA was expensive. They lady in the shop totally bamboozeled me. But I've got it now, so may as well use it I guess!

you may as well, let us know how you get on with it! She must be a good sales woman, where did you get it from? somewhere in Wales?

New South Wales! I'm in Australia!! It was like $35.00 AUD

So far my Indian fern or wisteria (whichever it is) is doing well and so is the Java fren. But the Vallis isn't doing great yet.
