activated carbon

OK so i just bought some activated carbon by marina. I put it in some pantyhose as a makeshift filter bag, and while I was rinsing it, it totally stunk!! Should I be concerned? Has anyone else come across this

Mm, it shouldnt smell like anything. If anything it should ABSORB odors. I would take it back.
