Last night I bought 3 adult pineapple swordtails. I put them into my QT. One managed to commit suicide over night by jumping through the gap between the hood at the heater.

I've bought swordtails a few times in the past and they've always within a few days, primarily from mouth rot and/or columnaris. At the time I chalked it up to already sick fish. Since my last attempts a few months ago, I've found a better fish store.

My 2 remaining swordtails are not eating now. I know that sometimes it takes a day or two before a new fish will eat, but I'm getting that bad feeling that these two are going to end up like the others. Is there anything special that I need to do specifically for them, other than the normal acclimation process?

In the tank, I have 2 otos, 2 swordtails, a dwarf gourami and 2 black mollies. It's a cycled 10 gallon QT with ammonia 0, nitrites 0 and nitrates < 10 (planted)

The fish (other than the otos) are destined for my 55G tank after some observation.

Thanks for the help!
