The bipolar state. Take a stab at it.
Hey guys, just wondering this.

From where I get my bettas, they come in those little cups we all know so well. When I get another betta, I'd really prefer to acclimate using a bag. I don't really know how much water they put in there, just not enough for a... good bag. Would I just add some extra water to the cup? And how would I bring him into the bag without stressing him out?

OR....

If that gets too complicated, how would I...float him in his cup? and Etc.

Thanks

I save all the little cups I can for acclimating at home from tank to tank. As long as the cup is 3/4 full with the lid on floating in the tank for 15 minutes then swish some water back and forth and let the fish swim out on it's own.

Pour the water fish & all from the cup into the bag. Float the bag for about 20 minutes, then add a little water every 10 minutes. When you have about tripled the water volume pour the water, fish & all into a net over a bucket, then put the fish in the tank.

A drip acclimation is best, if this is for a fish from water quite different from yours. It involves dripping water with an air line into the container, you are aiming for doubling the water volume every hour, for about 3 hours.

Does it float with water in it? It won't sink? And don't laugh at the question, lol, I'm tired :)

So you prefer a cup over a bag?
As long as the water level in the cup is lower than the water in the tank it will float. I keep the lid on so they don't jump in the tank before I'm ready. The cup is just convenient. Bags are cumbersome and hard to keep air in without having a bunch of rubber bands laying around.
