Acclamating Brackish Fish To Pure Salt

i have a chance to get a free brackish puffer from a relative who works at a pet store, its a brackish puffer ( i dont know what kind) but its free and he is dependable so i know its not a piece of crap.... the only problem is havent the slightest on how to acclamate into pure salt besides setting up a qt tank and that is sopposed to take weeks isnt it? is there another way and if not whats the best wat to use a QT tank

First off, does it NEED to be converted? Do you have a brackish tank?

It would be best to find out what type it is before you get it also. Some like the green spotted puffer can live in full saltwater conditions, but by no mean have to be. I still don't get that, it's brackish so why not keep it in higher brackish Sg and not just get a saltwater puffer to begin with?

If you want to convert, it would take a few weeks to do so, like you expected; it's not going to happen overnight.
