Yes just boil it, and rinse any debris off.

You need to find out if it is safe . Do a vinegar test on the rocks if they foam don't use them. There are certain rocks that shouldn't be used like soft shale. I don't remember which rocks are not good for the tank though. Maybe someone else could help more?

OK, basalt, granite or sandstone (that does not contain chalk). Definitely avoid chalk, marble or dolomite. I would agree with the vinegar test.
