I'm about to med my tank with Levamisole, I've had a cammalanus worm problem for some time now.
I've read you need to do it in the dark, apparantly light effects it, or at least thats what some sites said.

Has anyone here treated a fully planted tank, C02 injected high light tank?
If you have, did you do it with the 100% water changes, lights out?

Just looking for some first hand experiences with the stuff and what I can or cannot expect.
You never know if what your reading out there is reliable at all.

Thanks.

You might get more replys over in chit chat with this thread.
Good luck.

From what I understand most of the light warnings have to do with long term storage, and that you should prob. turn off UV sterilizers if you are using one. I wouldn't remove all sources of light so you can observe the fish and make sure that they don't have a negative reaction, but if you can turn them down I would to help reduce stress.

I'm going to go ahead with the treatment sunday afternoon, and observe for the rest of the day.
Will update my results in this thread later.

Did a 70-75% water change at 12 noon today, it's now 8:30 Pm and I have yet to see a negative reaction by any fish.
Everyone seems to be doing fine, my angels that were infested (visibly infested) now have the same worms sticking out about 1/4 maybe more.
I will keep an eye on them for the rest of the evening and see what things look like in the morning.

It's 3:50 PM about 28 hours since I treated my tanks.
All fish are alive, no deaths and things are looking good.
I cannot see any more worms protruding from any of my fish's rear ends.
I've been feeding brine shrimp and peas exclusively since just before the treatment.

The way things are going I may not lose a single fish.

Note: All fry are alive and well.
Guppy fry-approx 100
Egyptian mouthbrooder fry-approx 70
Pelvicachromis pulcher fry-approx 20

Do you have to retreat after so long.
As some parasites are egg laying.

I've read you should retreat about 2 weeks after the initial treatment, which I intend to do.
I've had these worms for two years.
I was kind of skeptical about treating since I've had them for two years and had no deaths but I figured it's gonna catch up to me sooner or later, might as well treat and go from there.
So far so good.
Tommorow afternoon I'll do a 70-80% water change and watch for two weeks until I treat again.
:good:

That's fine then good luck.
