HELP!!

my 2 goldies are chasing my 2 Balck moors from last night i suppose, which i saw just now in the morning..

The two things i changed from last night are:

1. added new real plants to the tank
2. gave them very little of this newly bought fish food (Flake food)

the chase seems like they are smelling or biting the rear part of the Black moor....its so strange PLS HELP!!!...the Moors are swimming all over the tank frantically!!!

I have just shifted the Black moor to a big bowl temporarily....

waht should i do!!!! whats the reason?

they've been chasing each other inspite of the old food given floating on top....

...could there be something wrong with the Black moor, which the goldies are sensing?
...have there been cases where the goldies harm the Black moor?
...how long can the fishes stay withother the bubbles tube????

STRANGEST IS THE ITS ONLY ONE OF THE BLACK MOOR BEING CHASED...i just put them back one after the other and figured out that its only one Black moor being chased!!!!!!

Whats the problem!!!

Try posting this in the coldwater section you will definatly get more informative people there. Since most people here know more about tropical fish than coldwater fish like goldfish.

...I thought you only had one moor? Please don't tell me you got another.
Have you gotten a filter yet?

Your tank is too small for one goldfish, let alone however many you have in there now. They will continue to pick at the moor until you separate them (and either get another tank or return them,) get a bigger tank, or until the moor dies.

no no...i did not get another moor, these 4 (2 gold and 2 moors) have been together for 4 months now...and also ...

1. i saw one more change in the gold fish...the gold (the one chasing the moor) has a tiny hole in the tail and the tail has a red colour streak from the base till the end (just a thin red streak).

2. why will the moor die? i thought that the gold and the moor can to be together...im confused now!!

pls see this link. its the current tank before i make all the changes....

Are those widow tetras that you have with the goldies ?

not really...they are white skirt tetra (as reserched and found out on this site), two black moors and two goldies (specification yet to find out)

btw..i hear you are from india? which part...

do you have any clue why my goldies are chasing this poooooor little MOOR:((( pls HELP!

I don't have much experience with goldfish, but as a temporary relief method, you could try putting a tank divider and separate out the black moor. Try posting in the coldwater forum, as Durbkat said.

IMO tetras are tropical fish, and musn't be mixed with coldwater fish. There are several reasons, firstly, tropical fish will need a warmer temperature. Also, the slime coat on goldfish is known to cause problems with tropical fish.

Also, read this pinned topic in the coldwater forum: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=43980

Beginners always make mistakes, don't worry about it

I'm from Bombay :)

:)))) YES YES....ive got that shot from everyone here and im in the process of seperating the white tetras...

but i cannot get why the moors are being chased all of a sudden!!!!!!!!

- How do i divide the tank!?
- how do i move into the cold water forum?
- Moors and goldies do get along right?

Your common goldies are probably chasing the moor because they are claiming the tank for themselves. The moors swim more slowly than your goldfish so they make easy targets.

The hole is probably finrot, the red streak is probably septicemia. It is getting this because you have too many messy fish without a filter. A filter will neutralize harmful chemicals like ammonia and nitrite which are produced by uneaten food and your fish's urine and feces. I can't stress this enough, you need to get a filter. In the meantime, do a large water change. I said the moor will die because if the goldies don't stop picking at it they can indeed pick it to death.

You can PM a moderator and ask to move this thread. The main page shows the moderators. If you scroll down, you will see a section called "other pets" which has "coldwater fish and ponds" (or just click here: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showforum=18)

Goldfish and black moor *should* get along, but fancy goldfish and common goldfish have some problems getting along at times.

As far as diving the tank is concerned, you can buy one from your LFS, or make one on your own. Here is a thread from the bettas forum: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=101204 (use it only temporarily, till the problem is sorted out)

yes Synirr, i am getting a filter, in a day or two max..

-I've already seperated the goldies and moors into different containers.
-why only 1 moor is being chased? not the other?
