Aaaaaaarrrghhhh! What To Do Next!

well the tank came off of its 3 hour test run at 4PM this afternoon (GMT) and everything was hunky dory and worked fabulously... as a result the tank is now in my room awaiting gravel, a heater, a table to put it on, water and finally fishy things and plants...




What i would like to know is what colour scheme would you use? I already have a black tank and would like for something different but wanted the voice of others...

for stocking (suggested by the_lock_man) I am going to have 5x hillstream loach, 6x WCMM and 6x Danio (or other fast water small fish)

Would also like to know what danio you would get and if not a danio what other fish you would get (has to be a fast water fish though...)

I'd stick with natural sand - should look nice with the slate (at least mine does).

wouldnt natural sand get blown around a bit by 1150l/h?

i can turn the flow down a bit though

It depends on how you direct the flow.


if the sand can't stay put on the bottom, then I doubt any fish would be ok to swim in that type of current.

I've currently go 2 600l/hr filters running in my tank and the sand is good not getting blown about at all I'm surprised its stayed flat too. I'm the same not really sure what fish u could get but I like danios not sure what ones would suit ur tank tho

I think I'm black sands new biggest ambassador Since i put it in my 2ft a few weeks back i love it. Everything looks so much better against it!

well when running at max I can put out 1150 in a 60 litre - If i turn it down then that should work OK

I used play sand in my tank (different company though)... It looks lighter than that once it is cleaned and under your lights. It will work just fine, once you clean it. If you don't clean it first though, you will have a cloudy tank for quite some time afterwards and with that level of current in the tank, it is guaranteed to end up in the filter housing. Be very thorough cleaning it and it should be fine.

When I think about it... i cant use sand! my main filter touches the bottom of the tank and it would suck the sand in... oh well, mowbz wins and I go for gravel... sigh.

P@H have quite a few shades of sand in at the mo, have you tried looking there? I had a look through when looking for black, the only one they didnt have. Lots of shades of Grey and Brown, aside from the normal "white" playsand.

I've got that argos play sand in my tank does the same job as aquarium sand but for a fraction of the price I think a lot of people on here use it just make sure u wash it thoroughly lol
