A Water Spider In My Tank?

Well, yesterday I woke up and went to see my tanks. I got to my ten gallon tank to find a spider on my aerator (the part in the tank!) It was living off the air from the aerator. I took the aerator out of the water and the spider (who wasn't even wet, it was a big ole water proof spider lol) took off running... so I killed it... the end.

I just wonder how a water spider got in to my house. It was a diving bell spider by the way (they live in water.)
