4 days ago, i begin doing a fishless cycle for my new tank...i added fish food as a source of ammonia...now, my water is cloudy and dirty but from my previous question, i found out this is normal...but i dun seem to be getting any ammonia fixing bacteria...my nitrite is at 0...i do not have any ammonia test but i will be getting it soon....

im sorry whats the question? why dont you have nitrites? is that it. if thats it then it takes longer than 4 days that for the ammonia to breakdown into nitrites.

If youre bored.... why not read the stickies on the topic ? (or use the search button) Sorry to sound "offish" but this has been discussed a LOT !

Your cycle may well end in tears.... I would not recommend the food method - try and obtain some ammonia.

I would just start all over and dump the water out. add of course water then condition it. Let the filter and heater run for at leased 5 days then if you want to you can get some testing done then add fish. That is all I did and my fish is perfectly fine.

ONLY ADD FISH IF YOUR TANK HAS CYCLED !!!!! DONT JUST PUT WATER IN WITH CONDITIONER TURN THE HEATER ON AND FILTER ON AS AT THE END OF 5 DAYS ALL YOU WILL HAVE IS SOME NICE WARM WATER.

YOU NEED TO PUT A SOURCE OF AMMONIA IN THE TANK ATER TO KICK START THE CYCLE PROCESS, THEN CARRY OUT WATER TESTS AND WATER CHANGES TILL FULLY CYCLED.

DONT ADD WATER WAIT 5 DAYS THEN TEST THE WATER AND THEN THINK TIME TO PUT THE FISH IN !!

OFTEN 5 DAYS IS NO WHERE NEAR ENOUGH TO FULLY CYCLE, FISH MAY SEEM FINE NOW BUT IN THE LONG RUN YOU MAY HAVE JUST GIVEN THEM A LIFE TIME OF AGONY AND SUFFERING.

IT TOOK 4 WEEKS FOR MY FIRST TANK TO CYCLE.
