This evening a sunbeam entered the corner of my 10g tank and it looked so beautiful and natural. If only I could have had that happen for the TOTM contest!

Oh I do so love that when that happens ! Way back in days of yore when I was a boy the sun would hit my aquarium in my bedroom in the afternoon and my vallisneria I had then would respond by streaming off little strands of bubbles . I’ll never forget that sight and even now I have one aquarium that gets morning light for about two months out of the year and my Aplocheilus lineatus Golden Wonder Killifish sparkle in the sun . Your pictures are great but actually seeing that must be beautiful .

Thank you. I like your story of when you were a boy. It's funny how you never forget things like this. Yes, it's true that you can never completely capture 100% the beauty of the spectacle as it happened. I had just done a 50% water change and the clearness of the water helped, I think.

There’s something in natural sunlight that no light bulb will ever duplicate . When natural sunlight hits an aquarium there is clarity that is unmatched .
Oh, yes. Several of my tanks get a bit of late day sun up through the aptly named 'golden hour' and I always try to stop what I'm doing for a bit to take in the effect. The fish appear to like it too.
