i have cardinal teras in my 29 as well as some other schooling fish

i bought 13 cardinals

i recently counted them and i counted 12

iv conted over and over and 1 is missing im guessing he died ....

my tank has lots of plants and rocks
i think the body might have gone "lost" in the plants and rocks

is it ok if i leave the body there

i have shrimp just so you know 6 glass shrimp

will the shrimp take care of the body?

or do i need to dig in there to try to find the body.... ?

plec food? ;)

im no expert.. its just a guess.. my talking catfish is supposedly partial to little fish if presented with them on a plate.. (well you know what i mean).. and hes only a 5 inch chap.

Squid

find and remove it... yes, your other fish may eat it... but if it died from something nasty, do you really want to infect your other fish?...

good point

but it seems harmless.... lol there are alot of plants
i dono if ill ever find him
....................................................
its just a little cardinal right?

im a risktaker......

it could have died from Neon Tetra Disease or something like that,

would you really risk your whole tank?

DD

I am the same I had 10 wee tetras now I have 8 no sign of them any where I think they may have been buried by the sand. There was no way I was finding them.

your tank sounds great.
What i would do is check the pump incase the body has been sucked up.
if there is nothing found then i would try rooting for the body under the stones.
#if you still havent found it then i would ashume its body has dissintergrated.
however in order for it to dissintergrate and rot away it has to be under the gravel for atleast 6 weeks.
How long did you say it had been missing for?
best of luck to you

when i had a tank my fish woulld rot away in a week when they died. although i plan on takin better care of them this time.

i stirred up the water (maybe he was in the plants) and no body was found he has been dead for 3 days now...... if i take the rocks out all the plants will flote up ......

i dono if i dont find him i plan to redecorate my tank ..... not by choice....

but maybe its a positive thing>. maby my tank will look better after the redecoration

I'll probably get scolded for this, but honestly, if a tiny fish dies in a heavily planted/decorated tank, I have been known to leave it. A guppy recently went missing in one of my tanks (probably died giving birth) and I couldn't find the body after a quick search so I just left it. No changes in water stats or smelly water, so meh :dunno:
I imagine the ghost shrimp found her quite tasty.

The only serious issue with this that I can think of would be disease. But I've lost several white clouds in my 55 and I couldn't find them. I'd look for him but I wouldn't stress about not being able to find him.

who said it still in the tank...........i once had a goldfish go missing. found it a week later dried up and stuck to the wall be hind the tank
