I was in my LFS today and i was looking at the Guppy tanks.
One of the fish had some sort of weird white spot on it and
it looked quite pale. Should i avoid anything from this tank?
All the nice Guppies were in there.
Thanks

yes, it probably has white spot, quite a common disease

if you see any fish looking unwell in a tank at the fish shop you should avoid buying fish from there.

Avoid the store? Or just that tank?
I didn't see anything out of the ordinary
in any other tank.

can get a bit complicated, depends how their tanks are filtered, generally a shop runs several tanks on one filter so if anything's wrong with a tank you should avoid everything on that system but not necessarily everything in the shop.....

to know whats on the system though you generally need to badger the staff a bit.

i saw some gorgeous guppys today, their markings were soooo bright, almost glowing, the males had tails that looked like flames (yellow and orange) and the females were black red and yellow.

would these be 'dyed' fish or do they just dye danios? they were so 'glowing' it was unbelievable, i really fancy a few but dont do dyed fish.

naw, they aren't dyed. I just recently bought some guppies and the males of the species I bought have bright red and black tails. The females have different color tails as well. They flouress nice under the light I threw on tank quick, a 50/50 pc 10K white and actinic.

Ox :good:
