Ok..

This summer i noticed in my Swimming pool ( we left standing for a week/two weeks )
A TON of Algea...

I Was wondering Could you actuly add this algea to my tank for a plec to eat

(Not saying i will or what ever :p)

just a realy random question..

Because why is algea growing? On a Pure water Swimming pool thing o_O

Had an Idea of taking our small kiddy pool and try to breed something during the summer. Bet you could try. Best to test water for chlorine first.

No cholorine would be in the water I Dont think

Will have to test.

if not would it be safe To feed to Some-ones fish then?

My uncle has a friend who owns some Shunkbunkins Witch eat Algea..

And i could proberly give it away On here if its safe enough :good:

Just make sure no chlorine is present. If a small amount is, best to put algae in gallon jars and put in a conditioner. NovAqua is a good product.

Ok That sounds good :good: Thanks and my "Kiddie" Pond is 12 Ft. 4ft High... So thats ALOT of algea witch will grow :)

Dang. If you let it, you could start a business. Just get 10 male Paradise fish and 20 female paradise fish. You could easily make money. Best to do this during summer though.

out of curiosty?

Why Paradise fish :p

I DID ask my mom if i could get a pond filter and convert the pool into a Koi Pond..

She said No Because its my brothers pool..

Not bad for £50!! :d:D:d:D

B&Q When have you EVER let me down

hardy, easy to breed, pretty, and breathes air

why risk it when you can stick some tap water in a jam jar put a drop of ammonia in and leave it, it will be filled with algae within days, and its 100% safe.

True.

But I Dont get how so much algea would grow inside of a Kids swimming pool :S

Are you adding chlorine to it? If you don't then you get algae, thats what happens if you leave a pure tub of water sitting under the sun. Our kiddy pool is smaller than that I think. It's kept chlorinated, never had a issue with things growing in it.

In the summer I know some of the breeders around raise fish outside in "bins". These bins are normally 100-300gal livestock water troughs. They can be as small as 50 gal though. These seem to be the best thing to use, they are not too expensive and can be stacked inside each other when not in use. A kiddy pool would work, but IMO only if its one of those hard plastic ones. Our kiddy pool is one of those round soft ones with no supports, kinda like a bag of water. If they ever overflow from rain or something else, it doesn't stop until its lost half its water all over your yard.
