Now I'm aware of the equation of X inches of fish to Y volume of water, however just how does one measure a fish?
Obviously this is done by eye and approximation but where does a fish start and end?
For example a Platy (say 'Hello' Napoleon) is an inch long but has a good 1/2 inch of tail.
I'm probably being a little pedantic being bothered by that 1/2 inch but it really does add up. Anyway thanks for any help with this one.

generaly speaking the inch per gallon of water rule, is a guidline and not an absolute.
the gallons in the equasion are based on US gallons
and the fish measurment is based on tip to the end of the caudal peduncle (where the tail starts)

Thankyou very much. Looks like next months guppies are to be the last fish for a bit then.
