I have been running my first ever community tank for a few months now and it seems to be coming along great. I purchased 1 male and 2 female guppies to join my tank a couple of months ago and in no time at all they were both fattenting up. The thing was, they never actually seemed to give birth to their fry even though they were heavily pregnant for weeks and eventually both died.

I purchased another female guppy to join my lonesome fella guppy, and sure enough within a week or two she was pregnant again.

I decided yesterday to move them to my spare tank that I have set up for my next set of angel eggs (another story) and this morning, voila! About 30 guppy fry happily swimming around!

So, why?

Sometimes they get a little stressed when put in a new location.. so they give birth. Females often give birth on the way home from the store.

Congrats on your guppy fry! :) Aren't they fun :)

It likely, your fist 2 the water was'nt right for them to birth, as they can hold off birth for along time, or the borthed and the fry where eaten.

Your new female, prob gave birth because you moved her, if you move mum and dad, i'd move them back ASAP, as they WILL eat all the fry.
