I have a Mickey Mouse Platie that looks to be ill.
She appears to have eggs,Or what looks like eggs coming out of her. they are yellowish with a white-ish sack around them.

I'm stumped, I'll try for a pic.... and be back soon.

Thank you, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, And A wonderfully happy new year!!!

Adam

Sounds like she aborting, I would go to livebearers section, as i want to make sure it's aborting and not internal parasites.

Livebearers dont have eggs, they internally have their fry and just eject them, basically. Of course, im not sure if livebearers have the eggs inside them and then just eject the fry...

Well.... I can not really get much more info because my wife got on the comp. and researched it. She thinks it was inerds coming out, due to infection, so the fish was sent to a better place before I saw it.

It sounded to me to be bad, since a piece of what came out, which I saw, looked like guts, not eggs.

I do not know all of the details, but they did not look like eggs. they were larger than a egg could be for an animal this size.

Also We have a black skirt tetra that has a new problem..... it has a red pimple on its tail. right were the tail and the body meet. the pimple is about 1/8 inch (3mm) in diameter, and sticks out 1/16th (1.5mm) the other side of the tail is flat, but pink.

Then there is a Blue mickey mouse Platie, who is in love with my red platies, He really loves all of them, ALOT. over the last month he has had a bit of red showing up at the outer most tip of his top (dorsal) fin. I noticed yesterday a little more red, in dots/ stripes across his back. He looks like a dalmation of red and blue.....................

Is this bad?

or is it possible his love of sunburst, and red MM Platies has made him try to change his colors.

He is healthy, and appears happy..... And he is Very horny!!!

What do you think?

Thanks everyone, you Gals and Guys ROCK!

Adam :thanks:

You have a bacterial infection in your tank with the red pimples, red on fin, and dots of red which is septicemia.
What are your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
R.I.P.

Red spots on skin can be caused by:
Regarding the small red dot, small pinprick like haemorrhages (called petechiae) can be due to a local lesion, a generalised septicaemia or toxaemia caused by acute viral and bacterial infections.

Livebearers dont have eggs, they internally have their fry and just eject them, basically. Of course, im not sure if livebearers have the eggs inside them and then just eject the fry...

Live bearer's do have eggs just inside of them, They are the same as normal eggs and are not connected to the mother in any way, the only difference there hatched and fertilised internally.

Water stats.

Ammonia 0
nitrate 10ppm
nitrite 0
ph 7.4
hardness 80-100 ppm

The pimple on the black skirt tetra is shrinking, in 1 day it has gone down to half the size.

I'm keeping a close eye on them. so far so good.

I would still add a bacterial med.
Good luck.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Ok, I found 3 little tiny platies... so I believe she gave birth, aborted, and passed.
RIP little platie.

then while trying to catch the fry, I watched my black skirt tetras gobble them up. CRAP.

The Black tetra with the red pimple is fine now. all signs of it are gone, and he is as happy as ever.

I did a weekend of Melafix and Pimafix, both about half strength.

So I guess I will put my filter back to carbon tonight...... unless there is something better!?!?!?!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
