Thanks to everyone who helped me with yesterdays problems...It seems that raising the oxygen and lowering the temperature helped a lot, along with a marine buffer for ph and hardness. But now the water has gone very cloudy...no color to the cloudiness. This started happening when I increased the oxygen but before I added the buffer...The fish seem fine, pretty normal, much happier than yesterday. Im really confused and worried. If anyone has any more ideas please let me know...since I moved this tank a month ago it has had nothing but problems!!!

Thanks

It is most likely a bacterial bloom triggered by the increase of oxygen levels, within a day or two it should clear as the extra bacteria beds in or dies off.

No nothing to worry about unless the cloudyness doesnt fade after a day or two, just remember to keep the water well aerated so the excess bacteria dont use up what oxygen is available and deprive the fish.

I was just reading that during bacteria blooms the ammonia will often spike...Have you had experience with this???

The ammonia doesnt spike because of the bacterial bloom, but just the opposite. The bacteria blooms because of an ammonia spike. Unless you get an ammonia reading dont worry about it.

Actually I have now tested and found an ammonia spike...I have no idea why this is happening...

Did you get an ammonia reading yesterday while the monos and archers were gasping? How high was the ammonia spike today? Are you using a wet/dry filter or any other filter that could have ran dry?

If your filter bacteria died for some reason or another it makes sense that you have a bacterial bloom. More information would be helpful as well. Keep doing water changes and stop feeding until you get the ammonia level back down to zero.

No there was no ammonia when I tested the two days ago...when the monos were gasping. There was ammonia yesterday but they were not gasping. I have done a few water changes now but the ammonia is still quite high. I may use a product to detoxify the ammonia though as I have been raising the ph slowly (It dropped when I moved) and I am worried about the fish as the ph rises. Right now the PH is down around 7.5

I am not using a wet dry filter...just a fluval canister filter. I am worried now that somehow my bacteria may have died...

Also today the cloudiness has gotten worse (Hard to even see the back of the tank), but the fish still seem to be ok. They are hungry as I havent fed them in a few days now but they look pretty normal otherwise.

How many water changes and what percentage have you done? The ammonia is probably lowering your pH to 7.5 by the way. If you have changed at least 50% of the tank water and the ammonia level is still high my guess is that your filter bacteria has died. You are going through a cycle unfortunately.
