A Must Have

Am I missing something, but why don't you just get a normal $3 timer ?

This is a fancy day/night timer with all kinds of settings. I'd get one just for ease of convienence but my tanks are all spread out to really justify the expense.

Though I should add there are timers that let you set up to 12 different time switches and are only $5. I have them on my tanks. :p

Yeah why pay $30 for the same thing you can get at the store for $2-$5 ?

It's very neat and looks really cool but seems rather overpriced. My local Currys (electrical superstore) has 24 hour timers in packs of four for £7.99! That's two quid each!

Its 30 for a timer, when you could use that money for much better stuff, like the actual lighting you are going to use, haha.

I figured I would add a response worth reading. These timers are great I have 2 of these and 3 of the none digital type. I like the digital time because you can accuratly set the time. I'm sure everyone has been frustrated by those dial type timers. I like having mine in a strip like this so I don't have to use multiple strips and timers. If you can spare the money they are worth it.

i have the nondigital version as well. It's very reliable so far and works great.

This is really not that expensive, an average outlet expansion pad cost of this size cost $15 already anyway. This kills 2 birds with 1 stone for me, i can plug all my cords and it automates the lighting for me.

Call me crazy but I'm not particularly put off if the timer is off by 5 minutes. :p

well yeah silly, of course that wont matter. I mean it actually turns on and off at the specified time:) You can also do some cool tricks with it, i am thinking about putting my power filters on the timer, so it turns off during feeding time when my automated feeder kicks in. :hey:
