Who got the new Iron Maiden album, A Matter Of Life And Death? I got it Sunday, and think it is one of their best albums, all their songs are so good! Cool album art also.

I haven't got the new one yet but probably will at some point. I don't mind their new stuff but I much prefer their old albums. As for the album art, it is great. I ended up painting a picture of Eddie on my jacket at the tender age of 14. Still have the jacket for sentimental reasons, my daughter is showing a big interest in it though, so I may have to hide it!

Their old stuff if great, but you really have to hear their new album, i myself put it on par with their first two albums (which were my favorite)

If it's as good as their older stuff then I will definitely buy it! I'm not a big fan of some of the "rock" music today so it's nice to see the older bands releasing new albums.

They've been touring here with Trivium. Can'tbelieve that Trivium were supporting Maiden - should've been the other way round surely?!

Not a Maiden fan really (don't hate them) - ex husband loved them, his Dad knew Bruce. Therefore they will remain banned in this household, although Lisa tells me their new song is okay (wouldn't know, it's banned).

Shame though, because I was going to buy Baz tickets for Trivium as a Chrimbo pressie, but like he said, why would he want to go and only get to see half an hour of Trivium then sit through ageing Maiden.

I went to see Maiden last night and Trivium were supporting. I will discuss Maiden and Life and Death in a minute, but first:

Trivium were awful. I have never heard such crap in all my life. They had no direction to their music and every song just meandered without any direction and sounded identical to the last one. Only good thing on the set was the singer getting all upset because people threw a bottle of urine at them. I hope to god they never play Reading because they would be showering in it and once more threatening that their big friends would beat up whoever threw it (oooh, that's so hard and Thrash Metal(!))

I have been to a few smaller metal concerts this year and I can say, without doubt, that Trivium are the worst band (support or main) I have had the misfortune to listen to. I even found myself enjoying some death metal as it was live a couple of weeks ago, but was massively relieved when Trivium finally left the stage last night. They had such little connection with the crowd the largest circle pit they got had all of 10 people in it. All That Remains managed a pit at least 3 times that size in the Astoria when supporting Dragonforce last week.

Anyway, on to Maiden...

I was disappointed with Maiden's set. They played every single song off of the new album without a single old song for the first part of the show. We then got 5 older songs (Fear of the Dark, Hallowed be Thy Name, Iron Maiden, 2 Minutes to Midnight and one I forget). The place literally exploded when they finally played an older song. I have never seen a band play an entire album straight at a gig, and certainly not one with the sort of back catalogue that Maiden has.

All in all an ok gig, but I really expected more from Maiden. It effectively excluded anyone who was a fan but hadn't bought the newest album for most of the show. I was impressed with Bruce keeping the crowd entertained when they had to shut off the sound for 10 minutes after a power cable caught fire backstage. Never thought I would hear a chorus of "Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life" at a Maiden concert.

The new album seemed all right (have only heard live), but every song started by sounding as if it could be Afraid to Shoot Strangers and almost every song had the same anti-war theme. Certainly not the best of Maiden as a trawl through their older live albums will show.

Hey well now I'm even gladder I didn't buy the tickets - sounds like it was a rubbish gig! I haven't heard Trivium live (they're not my cup of tea), but Baz rather likes their recorded stuff. Just goes to show what production can do

Worse for me was just how great the Dragon Force gig was the week before. I must admit I prefer smaller venues now, far more atmosphere.

Roll on 2007, Europe are touring again. Long live cheesy hair metal!

Got me singing run to the hills now, love iron maiden best heavy metal group for me.

The new Iron Maiden album is very good, I bought it just a few weeks ago. Something about it sounded different than what Maiden normally sounds like, I can't point it out, but either way, it is still very, very, very good. If you listen very closely in the first track, right at the begining, they yell: Eddie!

All the maiden albums sound different from one another, but the songs on the albums sound very similar. The reason why Maiden sounds different is because they became more progressive metal (long songs, each song as easily distinguishable parts)
