My Betta has a pea-sized lump on his side... I'm a little worried because he is also rubbing up against the plants and the filter and his gills are a little swollen. Also whenever he takes in air, the bubbles come out through his gills rather than his mouth.

My tank has been up and running for 2 years now, but this Betta is about a year old. His tank mates are the 4 Pepper Cories, the talking catfish, 2 Neons and 3 X-Rays. I had done a waterchange a few days ago and added some anti-internal bacteria since it has been suggested that the lump could've been caused by internal bacteria. The ammonia and nitrite levels are 0 and the tank is 15g.

Anything else I can do?

The past heatwave has affected a few of the fish, the X-Rays seem to have been affected, although now it has cooled down a bit they seem fine now. The tank on Monday reached 32degreesC which didn't help my Betta at all... I'm all the way up in Aberdeen, which is the north-east of Scotland so we never expect overly hot weather in the summer. However last monday was the hottest day in Aberdeen since records began (according to the news) at 29.9 degrees C.
