Hi, This is my tank's third week--I am a newbie and we are cycling a 20 gallon tank with two mollies right now (a third died 3 days into the process). For the most part they are doing well. The pet store told me to only feed them every 2-3 days. So I feed Tuesdays and Fridays. Tropical flakes. TODAY after feeding time, the black molly won't stop pooping. It's now his 4th movement of long slimy looking pinkish poop. He has always pooped white or clearish. Not sure if there were more red flakes this time or more food or what. Is this a potential problem? If so can I remedy asap?

Thank you!

K

My platies do have pooing marathons also, especially after feeeding,i suppose they're just off loading, their poo colour also depends what they've eaten i noticed,if i give bloodworm they have really dark red/brown poo, flakes maybe green or pink,if they've been scabbing around the tank it comes out whitish.

I think has long has its not stringy it should be ok. :)

I'm sure someone with more knowledge can help you more if needs be.

The Molly is up to BM number 6. in one day. Seriously did not feed him that much and I only feed 2 x week. Now his poop is white. Still not long stringy, it's got some girth to it. I just tested the tank and all is okay.

In terms of white and stingy I just got a platy today and she is demonstrating that. Guess I will keep an eye out.

Thanks,

K

Just need to make sure the fish don't have internal parasites with producing long stringy white poo,and clear mucas poo.

Signs of internal parasites are.
Long stringy white poo, or clear mucas poo.
Enlarged anus, or red inflamed anus.
Fish will look skinny or bloated.
Sunken in belly sometimes.
Worms prutruding form and anus of the fish.
Bent spine sometimes.
Fish will sometimes swim on its side.
