hi one of my cichlids mouth's is slowly turning black, it seems fine, just a little concernd

any ideas what it could be?
im about to charge my camera so i can add a picture

cheers for any suggestions

p.s its a "Caeruleus"

Does it look like it is getting a moustache or beard? If so, some of the poorer strains get what is referred to as bearding, which sounds like what you are describing. On some of the fish it starts when they sexually mature, sometimes it will fade, othertimes it's permanent. If you can get a picture, it would help.

only yesterday did i notice that one of my "blue dolphins" had it too and i woke uop this morning to him dead, any ideas, because im now pretty consernec about the first fish?

im doin a 50% water changer later on today

anymore suggestions?

cheers

If i was you i would be more worried about re homing your fish your keeping 5 very large fish in a 96ltr tank and your trying to i.d the rest a juewl rekord 96 is no where near suitable for african cichlids except kribs or shell dwellers.

Your moori has the potential to reach 9" and you have 2 http://www.cichlidforum.com/profiles/species.php?id=1061

your venustus has the potential to reach 10.5" and you have 3 http://www.cichlidforum.com/profiles/species.php?id=1160

Dunno what else you have in there didnt you do any research into the fish before you bought them. You need to either take them back to the fish shop of buy a 5 foot tank.
