Hey all

I set up a DIY co2 kit for my tank 2 weeks ago, and have just changed the mixture. I used to put the injector into the filter, but didnt notice any difference.

HOWEVER - When i put in new mix, i bought an ashtray, the round one with 3 notches on the lip of it. I laid this on the bottom of tank and put the injector into it so it filled up upside down with co2. With such a large surface area, the co2 diffuses really quick and after 2 days of the new mixture i have notices a VAST - and i do mean vast improvement. All the lower leaves of the plants are BRIGHT green! This stuff is feckin magic!!!

:)

So i just wanted to share - so if theres anyone doing what i did, change now. Also, get a flat ashtray, as you can lay gravel or sand on top and it will just look like a "hill"

Will keep you posted...

Got a pic of the set up? Sounds like a good idea. I did something similar. I took the bottom of a 20oz Pepsi bottle and glued an airline tube suction cup holder to it. I stuck it in my tank and covered it in Java Moss. My CO2 bubbles go up and get caught under it.....you could call it a Mossy Bell? My Betta chills out in there now and then too...

Sound's good, and simple idea too,

But can you tell us what the size of your tank, and what the CO2 level you've got??

Also how many bubble in minute you have?

I have a 260 litre Juwel Vision. I use a 5 litre container for the co2> Due to depth of tank and the rigidity of container, i get one LARGE bubble per minute, which is plenty enough to keep the ashtray full of co2.

Tested my levels before i set this up and i was at 10 ppm. I will test again today with new setup.

Plants age getting greener all the way up now. Im gonna get some ferts today, as iv run out.
