Hi folks, i'm new here and new to the hobby. when i went t bed last night, i was the owner of a biorb with 5 dalmation mollies. when i got up this morning, i had 13,which as you can imagine was a bit of a shock. a quick post here for advise and i now have a second biorb(borrowed) which fortunately was ready to accept fish. so i now have adults in one tank and babies in another. while looking for an emergency tank, i have managed to inherit a aquaone 620t. so, here is where the help is needed. i'm brnd new at this so need somebig advise on setups, what fish can go with my mollies, can i use sand and live plants with them., and even what plants? am open to any advise.

Heya!

It's pretty late so I'll leave you with this link - it has all the basics of how to set up a tank, why water testing is really important and how the nitrogen cycle works.

I'll post tomorrow with some specific advise regarding the mollies and such.

Two quick answers:

1) Sand is OK, but not in a Biorb. Doesn't work with undergravel filters (which is effectively what a Biorb uses)

2) Live plants are brilliant. Keep to easy to care for species such as cryptocoryne, java fern, anubias and elodea.

Will say something more constructive tomorrow! Please read the stuff in the link, especially the bits on cycling and maintaining a tank. Will make life much better for the babies if they get a really good start =)
