Im looking at buying a hospital/fry tank.

I currently stock in 2 tanks:

Dwarf Gouramis
Betta Splendin
African Dwarf Frogs
Zebra Danios
Neon Tetras
Flame Tetras
Leopard Loach
Zebra Loach

im obviously looking to keep a fry/hospital tank as small as possible and run on a simple sponge filter.

would a 12"x10" suffice - I know its not great for the likes of the loaches, but as a hospital tank any stay in there for them would be temporary.

IMHO a 12x10 would be fine as a hospital/fry tank

ta very muckle for that one. it was seeing my dwarf gourami looking very laiden with eggs, it got me to thinking of eventually trying to save some, and i need a hospital tank too thought the two in one approach would be suitable.

though i may end up buying another when i venture into trying to keep some of my ADF spawn as they seem very active in that department but either the eggs or the tadpoles get eaten every time.

hi we've got a 18X10 inch fry tank basic glass number from pets@home came with a plastic lid. we bought a cheap small aquarium light filling & screwed it in the lid. i run an airstone from our main tank pump & we also bought a fluval 1 internal. i was worried about it being too strong but all our fry have always seemed fine - i did have mesh over the intake grid but havent had it there for a long time & never noticed any of our even teenies having any problems.it doesnt have a heater ( the light keeps it warm) but we are intending to get a mini one, our flat is really warm & we do have a thermometer and the temp stays a constant 24c even overnight.
for a hospital tank we have an even cheaper acrylic tank about 14X10 inches. it doesnt have a light, filter or heater. we've never used it in the middle of winter though & if in use its usually up near a radiator. it would be more ideal to have a little filter & heater im sure. we've only had a couple of casualties in it for brief periods & tend to use the fry tank when its empty instead. the hosp one is really just for an extreme emergency or for near terminal care if a fish is being picked on before i decide to euthanase.
