I posted here before about a new WHITE baby betta I bought online who arrived with a raised white mark on him. It's been growing into both his body and dorsal fin. Now the dorsal fin has a hole in it! Some responses to my post were that it may be a tumor -- do you think it's fin rot? I've never seen this before.

Any chance of a pic from the side and above?

The white mark was it fluffy and did it run along the back going down the sides of the fish to form a saddle appearance.
Fish can get holes in there fins through bacterial finrot, you will need to treat the fish with a bacterial med.

ARGGHHHHH! How can this happen? He's in his own 5 gallon filtered/heated tank that I do 50% water changes/gravel vacs weekly. Of course, eh arrived with the marking and yes, it has a saddle shape across his spine on both sides, and is raised, not so much fluffy, but a raised thick patch.

Bad case of saddle back columnaris, if it was on the fin it eaten it way through to form a hole.
Need to get treating the fish fast to save it as columnaris is a killer.

agreed

I looked at pix of columnaries--doesn't look like that. But I am treating him with Jungle Fungus Eliminator which works really well for fungal infections. Do you think Kanamycn is too strong for him? He's only about 6 months old.

Its hard to tell on the pic with the fish being pink, if you don't want to use the antibiotic go in with the fungus elimator, good luck.
