Right now I'm considering a zebra danio, a sunset coral platy, and a fancy guppy.
Any other suggestions for a smaller breed of fish?
Besides most tetras, that need schools.

The help would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

(8 gallons, by the way!)

Forget the zebra danios, the minimum number is about six otherwise they fade away and die. They are very social fish.
Ember tetras!!! They are so tiny that you can have a school of twelve in that tank and not be overstocked.

zebra danios also like to zip around the tank at high speed

while danio's are small they are also very very active, they need a 20gal tank as a minumum to provide enough swimming space for them.

Honey Gourami's are a 2inch fish that can be in a community setup provided they are not with other Anabantoidei's. They don't require a school.

I like them because they aren't too shy. They'll swim around your hand/arm as you do a water change.

but gouramis are famously fragile fish so be careful with them they are fussy! i would go for embers. have more of one species of fish will lk better than having lots of different kinds.
