If you're too lazy, i recomend not getting discus
cheaper for you

Planted tanks require a fair bit of maintenance as well.

Really doesn't sound like a good combo for someone who's too lazy!

discus need a lot of care, if your lazy maybe stick to something a bit more tough that way you wont be just wasting your money

I've heard that they need daily or every-other-day water changes, and I don't think this would change depending on what type of filter you have.

i no but i was thinking if i had one of these

then do u think i could just do a 25% water change every week? maybe 50%?

Based on processing the water 5 times per hour (375 gallons), which I have always heard it the minimum amount, the 404 is actually not enough filter for a 75 gallon tank. It is rated at 340 GPH. IMO you need 2 filters on tanks over 3' long, one on each end. I am running 2 304s on my 75 gallon (520 GPH).

How lazy are you? I mean, discus require precise water and living conditions, and a larger tank. I also read that if your a begginer with discus you should do a species tank, That means, JUST discus. And after a while, buy discus gets pretty expansive. I saw a add for a discus that was $49.99!

But, I know what it feels like when you personally feel your able to handle something and everyone else thinks you can't. All of us here are just telling you why you shouldn't keep discus. Anyways, if you think you can do it, I support you. And discus are one of those kinds of fish where, you can't get lazy after you've had em' a while. You gotta keep it up.

Happy tidings,
Ethos

i got some conections and all my discus r under 25 bux with the exception of a few rare ones im not to lazy i dont mind water changes 1-2 times a week thats y i have all thoughs filters as u saw above ya some one else told me it be bertter to go with two 304's aswell so i guess i will :D

Frequent water changes are necessary for keeping discus alive irrespective of the filter(s) you have. And I would recommend you buy Eheim as they are of higher quality and are more dependable than Fluval canisters.
