I have a tank with 2 platties and 4 tetras. I *think* that it's 20-25 gallons. It's about 24" wide about 15" high and about 13" wide. OK, I think that it's 25 gallons. Anyways, usually the water is at 76 degreesF/ 25 degreesC. The other day it rocketed to about 90F. It was too hot. I took out about 1/3 of the water and replaced it, also turned off the heater. Checked it in the morning and it was at 75F. Plugged in the heater and it went too high again. This has never happened before. I have it turned off now at it's at about 74F. Now, the other ting, there is a make on the heater that sways "water level" If I fill the tank to make, then the water will be up to the black plastic around the top of the tank and about 1/2" into the part where the water comes out of the filter. Is this a problem
And last thing., what can I do about excess algae. I sem to get it rather quickly and it's a pain to clean, I have to really scrub it, but don't want to get rid of any good stuff in the process.
thanks so much!
