i had been thinking very nice...... until i saw the "community" tank. sorry to rain on your parade ( honestly i am ). but under no circumstances should male and female bettas be kept together. its a recipe for disaster - and not fair on the fish . males and males are worse. so your community , with males and females ( plural ) is not ideal or acceptable at all. not least with kribs.

i suggest you rehome ( or give away ) both those males in the " community" and the kribs.

however - i would like to say that you have some lovely bettas - i love your red dragon. :good:

wait woaaahhhhh - back up here! 25 KRIBS!!! what the hell dude ? that tank must be a complete warzone . thats disgusting. and how big is that tank ( 20 gals i guesstimate )?? waaaaayyyy too small. dude - do some research and phone all your local fish stores. youve got a lot of rehoming to do.

I agree -UNLESS- they're fry. But however, they should not be in with the kribs as the kribs WILL attack them.

i dont think they are fry -or they would also have to be krib fry. some of the finnage imho looks a bit small for fry . are there wild type betta in there too ???

Frist off thank you and then no I don't have to rethank are rehome any of the bettas. It's not a war zone at all. All the bettas and kribs have been in this tank togeather from 3 weeks after brith to now . there going on 7months old. It's a 55gal tank the only reason there at the front is because they thoughi was going to feed them. I know that alot of bettas can't be housed togeather, Frys that are raised togeather can live togeather. I'm not new to bettas at all. I've been raising and breding bettas for 15yrs. I've done alot a raising of them nd whatching the treats of each one. As we all know bettas or aggrasive and then there's peacful ones. I have 3males in a tank that's going on 1 1/2yrs old. They where raised togeather.
Any aggrasive betta is removed. Any fins nippers or removed. Don't get me wrong I have goe throw alot of differnt spices before i found and alot and I mean alot of differnt bettas before i found a group that can live togeather. I'm not going to keep any betta or krib in the tank that dosen't fit in it. The kribs are young very young and still not showing any signs of aggrasion to others or tank mates. Some of the betta fry are young as well. All the males are specailly picked for temperment and aggrasion.
The 3 males i have in a 20g tank have been there from 2weeks after born. Now I have yrs of breding and cross breding the line to get the right temberment and 1000's of hrs of whatchig the line. To see anything and everything I could to get the right types and right pairs to live togeather. Please don't get me wrong i would hate for my frist post on a new site to have people thanking. " He's nuts he's doing something bad." I've worked and worked on this set up. when I frist started I tryed a few differnt fish at one point they where fine. Then the next it was complete disaster, This set up is #15 in a serices of learning and relearning and even breding the line to get the ones that could live togeather. this group will get moved into a 75g in 3 weeks as long as they stay the way they are now, One more thing the set-up is changed every 3 weeks to brake up teritorries.

Ok - nevermind - I posted after Bettafreak did.

You realy can't keep the kribs in with them - rehardless of what you decide to do with those bettas.

This strikes me as the kind of thread that will have newbies saying, "Oh, if he can do it, so can I!!!" and placing bettas together in the same tank. I still feel that, even when raised together, this will allways be risky, and isn't something that should really be condoned, especially when there's no particularly good reason to house males and females together. I'm sure it can be done, but the real question here is if it should be done.
And, I must say, several of the bettas pictured (not in the community) are either in poor fin (the HM and CT both have either nips or rot) or appear somewhat underweight. That, and the dragon (though adorable) clearly has some major spinal deformities. I have to question the degree of expertise a person has with bettas if fish in this condition and fin are the breeding stock...
Either way... cute fish! I'm sorry your initial post here is causing some trouble for you; the people on this forum really care about bettas, and do have the best intentions in questioning the community tank.

*blinks* I saw that last pic and I thought "Awww, what a nice community of females"

Then I heard you have males in there?

Honey... I'd be worried. I'm sure they've been fine, but, I look at the tails of some of those, especially the red ones in front, and I think, -_- I wonder who did that..

I'm sure you've been keeping bettas for ages, but have you LEARNED anything during that time? Or have you just assumed that, since you've been keeping them for ages, you automatically know best?

What you're doing goes against the common sense of most of the forum members here, and, while they are beautiful, many of your bettas do not look to be in such good shape, with gnawed fins and rot...

Hope you don't find this to be hostile.

Oh Btw, I dont know if this has already been posted but your Red Dragon isn't a HMPK . The people on this forum aren't trying to harass you, just telling you whats best for your bettas. Anyone can breed bettas, its just that wether you can keep them in an ideal condition.

EDIT: You said that you put your males and such in at like 3 weeks or smthn? They can obviously be in there while they're young like that. They don't even need to be jarred yet. But after those few weeks, you really should seperate them

i hate to be so scathing - but regardless of your bettas- i wouldnt put 25 kribs in 55gallons. there is probably waaay to much fighting over males or females - and 25 is an uneven number so even if you did have the ratio in proportion- there would be a krib spare - which wouyld disrupt everything.
