Hi all

Thanks for all your help in answering any livebearer questions that have popped into my head the last few days and my last few questions concern my tank - so the best way to ask them is to show you the tank!
The link below links to a video which contains a few questions about my cycling tank (will be a livebearer tank) and also a little tour of my mature tank.

So, the comedy of my voice and poor camera work aside , I would appreciate it if you could answer the questions on the video. Thanks very much!
:) :D :)

The Questions!

Okay, I'm a little dizzy after all the moving around there, but I'll try to answer your questions!

1. The filter. It's possible they could get sucked up. But just put a breeder net or pantyhose over it, or cut a small filter sponge and stick it in there. Works a treat. :) The bubbles should be okay for them. If you could slow it down a little bit, it'd be better...but sometimes they play in them anyway. Most fry are pretty smart, they should figure out that if it's going to hurt, not to do it again. Oh yeah, and I'd just do 2 females.

2. More plants! :p Definitely need some more plants on there. I'd say something bushy on the right, and then something floating.

3. I wouldn't. Is he a CAE? In which case he'd get aggressive and big, and you don't want extra stress on the females..

Now, my other comments! First off, I love your voice. ;) Cute fishies, pretty Betta! My favorite part was when you were filming the Tetra, and he just sits there looking at you like "I'm on TV?". I literally cracked up.

Anyway, I hope I got the questions right! Let me know if I missed something, or got it wrong!

Hi
Ive watched your clip and agree with Annastasia that you definetly need more plants.Ive found hornwort(cant remember the latin name)to be invaluable in the livebearer tank.It is bushy and grows like nobodys buisness. It provides brilliant cover for fry and can be either planted or floated. The fry can also eat the tiny thingies(dont think thats the technical term!)that live on it
Java moss is useful as well but Ive found that the fry are really trapped in it in my tank and they get picked off if they appear.
Good luck

We have got a small tropical tank got 2 corys,3 female platies one male. One of the females has had 2 babies so we put them in the trap. One of the other females has had babies today and we keep going up to look at the tank and the new fry are trying to get in the trap. Clever or what they know where it is safe!
