Hi there everyone at TFF!

It looks like I stumbled across these forums a day too late, however hopefully you guys can help me make the best of what I have.

I have just moved out of home with my Fiancee to my first house. I have been the proud owner of a Jewel Reckord 96 for about nine months, and its current inhabitants are:

Six Gold Barbs (however my colleague thinks they may be Mollies)
Three Silver-tipped Tetra (there were six.......)
Two clown loaches (about three inches each)
Two plec's (about six inches each)
Platties (Too many... the bleeders wont stop breeding, however one of my colleagues is taking all of them :good: )

Taking the advice of several friends who completely slated the Juwel filter and powerhead system, I stripped it out and replaced it with a generic 100W heater, and a Fluval 205 with a spray-bar. This tank has a sand substrate which I have had very limited success in planting, however I have had a good success with a Java fern plant which has taken on some wood.

Fortunately for me, in my new house the previous occupant left a tank behind. On closer inspection, it has turned out to be a Jewel Rio 125, however the Juwel filter system was nowhere to be seen (a blessing in some peoples opinion), and the Multilux hood seems completely U/S (which I think is the tubes). Most worryingly of all was the fact that it was perched on a TV video cabinet

Last night I made my new purchases to get the tank back up and running:
  • Correct Rio 125 stand
  • Two Juwel STR450 Rock background packs
  • Juwel Silicon Sealer (To stick the background on)
  • Tetra-Tec EX700 Filter
  • Tetra-Tec HT 200w Heater
  • Rena Cor 25 watt under-substrate heating cable
  • Two Ecco Complete 20lb substrate packs (I intend planting this tank up properly!
  • An Arcadia Original tube, and Arcadia Freshwater tube, and reflectors to go with each
A good £300's worth of shopping!

I look forward to getting my new tank set up as soon as possible, and when I move my fish, I will make sure to post lots of lovely piccies for you :) It is great to have found a huge community of other friendly and very knowledgeble fish keepers, I hope to learn a lot from you all!

Hi Rik, welcome.
Please don't give in to the temptation to add more fish to the bigger tank; the Clown Loaches could get to 6 or 7 inches eventually. Best to let the fish you have now enjoy the extra room. Not bad though - a free tank.
