Hi ya, we've had our cichlids for a while now and have successful breed a couple of broods, altho we only have 2 left as the aggressive male has eaten them!

Anyway we have a few cichlids that we can't ID so I'm hoping that someone out there can help.

I'm sure this one is a kenyi - he's the dominant male and changed to the yellow colour after we lost the original dominant cichlid.

Any help in identifying would be great - cheers.

Thanx Darrel, nice to get a reply as I'm new to this forum. :D

Not too sure the about the first one, as it's more cream than red, and we've had him about the same time as the others about a year and he's nearly 6 inches now.

Your not wrong about the last one, he's very aggressive, but a good breeder and already had 3 batches, altho we're not that sucessful in raising them and now only have one fry left. Mind you the first one is very aggressive too!! I think he's waiting for the dominent male to die before he kicks in with his hormones lol.

I'm pretty pics 1 & 2 are peacocks, and hybrids at that.

Pic one "OB Peacock Hybrid", since they are hybrids the coloring of the fish tend to vary. If you click on the drop down menu below the pic in the link you'll see several pictures. I thought Photos 3, 7, 10, & 11 looked similar to your fish. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=1372

Pic two looks like a young "Gold Peacock Hybrid". http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=1315

If they are indeed peacocks (as I believe) you'll want to keep a close eye on aggression as peacocks generally have a hard time with mbuna, especially the more aggressive species like m.lombardoi.

Oooh def think the first one is a peacock hybrid, poor little fella, not that I'm concerned he's a hybrid as he's fantastic. And if the second one is another peacock hybrid then i'm not bothered either.

We don't seem to have that much problem with agression in the tank, we already have a pure breed peacock, one female Kenyi and another one that I have no idea what it is but can't get him to sit still long enough lol. We also had a little Rosie Barb that we'd had in the tank previously and was going to give it to a mate, however he seemed to live peacefully with the others and lived till it was 5years old. I do know that we should have more females in there tho and have tried but our LFS hasn't been sucessful in sexing them at an early age and we keep getting males.

Thank you for your reply tho - it's greatly appreciated.
