Good afternoon!

In my 29G FW tank I have, with 5 z danios, 2 rasboras, 5 black neons, 1 hatchet, 2 mm platies and 2 apple snails and 1 ghost shrimp, seems to have finally stabilized and my stats have been ni-0, na-0, amm-0 for over 2 weeks now so I am happy with it right now. I am now doing about a 15% water change once a week now and all seems very well and fish are happy. I did about 25% water changes every few days until now.
The question I have about this is that the ph has been a steady 6.6 for a long time. Do ya'll think this is too low? Should it be higher for the fish I have? They are doing well but I still wonder......everybody talks about their ph being so much higher.

Okay, my 55G is on day 17 of a fishless cycle, with a few plants. I used bottle ammonia on day 2 and got the amm up to 4.0 and have not added anymore since. The only change that has been done is adding the plants. My ph has been 7.0 since day 7 in this tank. My amm has been 2.0 since about day 5 and I have been waiting for it to get to 1.0 or lower before I add some more ammonia again, but it hasn't changed. My ni and na have changed in the last few days and today they are ni-.50 and na-10. So, is everything going well? I was just wondering if my amm should have changed before now, but I do see the na and ni are changing so is my cycle working? I guess I just need a little reassurance that all is well. :D

Thanks guys, ya'll have been such a GREAT help to me!! :flowers:

I would have to say everything looks to be going fine with your cycle. I would suggest reading the link above if you havn't already but I'm assuming you did. As far as PH goes, ammonia will raise the PH so that is why your PH is higher in one tank.

I personally would suggest not altering your tap water unless you have highly sensitive fish. When I say sensitive I mean fish that NEED a certain PH range to be healthy. If you plan on keeping fish that come from alkaline waters you may want to ask someones opinion before purchasing.

Oh yes I have read it many times!!

Just the main concern is that I expected the amm to go down in the 55 before now.

Maybe I am just impatient....which I am known for! LOL
