I picked up a pretty little blue/black sparkly platy girl yesterday to give my other 2 girls company. Well, when I got home there were 3 little fry in the bag with her! The crazy thing is she didn't even look pregnant at the store. I added them to the tank, but I haven't seen them again. Not sure if they're just hiding or what. Guess we'll see in a couple of weeks, if they come swimming out of the plants!
I just feel bad, I could have at least held her fin, if I had only known!

Just goes to show how capable us girls are! Ha, a 16 hour labor? I gave birth in a car!!!

I hope not too many! That's why I got all females... hopefully they'll just have a few births and then be done. I can handle a few more, but not whole lot.
The idea of them being eaten has crossed my mind, but I kind of hope at least one survives... being born in my jeep and all.

if u see one i would put it in a net breeder or a small tank and put him in there. good thing about the net breeder is that i can all ways see them i do float some leaves to make them feel safe. better if u have a small tank. when i first got my first fry i left it in there and see if they would servive but they didnt there was about 9. ( of what i saw maybe more)

I've seen many fish give birth in bags, show's and auctions.

If the fry are to young then they may not surive as they are unable to hide and will just become fish food.
As u said already they will give u more fry and they can do thias for upto 6-8 months after being with a male, but good luck and hope your fry do well.
