a canester for a larg tank

(mind you i have had a few drinks so pleas mind my spelling and such not that me drinking has that grweat of an an effect on me spelling poorly)


I am in the market for a 125 or so gal tank.... my main consern is filtration .... i was looking at a rena filstar xp3 seems quite good for what i want ,but I have a qustion the rena is rated for a 165 gal tank which is great ..... but my qustion is.... is it better to have to canester filters rated for a smaller tank then one rated for a larger tank?........ and with my 55 after the transfer.... i would like some ideas for a nice solo species tank totaly native to the fish ( make it easy please i'm nhot made of money :) ) any ideas are welcome ( my wife might not like it but oh well)

Having a larger filter than nessasary is better than having one that is too small as it will have more space for additional media to be added if wanted.

For the 55g why not work on making it a biotope of a region? The project can be on going and be added to each time you have a bit of spare cash.
 
On my 125 I have
2 xp3
2 penquin 330 hobs....

If you're going to have a lighter fish load you could do just the two xp3.
 
no he asking if he should have more filtration than he needs with one filter, or should he use two filters with the same capacity, i would say go with 2 becuase tehn if one breaks down, u still have the other as a backup :thumbs:
